Configuring Netscape Mail

 



 
Start Netscape Mail by double-clicking the "Netscape Mail" icon, or by starting Netscape, clicking the Tasks menu, then clicking the Mail & Newsgroups menu item.

Once Netscape Mail has started, click the Edit menu, then click the Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings... menu item.



 
In the "Server Name" box, enter mail.galesburg.net

Make sure the "Use name and password" box is checked.

In the User Name box, enter your username.

Next, click the
New Account button.



 
Make sure the radio button labeled "ISP or email provider" is selected.

Then click the Next button.



 
In the "Your Name" box, enter your name as you want it to appear on your
e-mail messages.

In the "Email Address" box, enter your e-mail address

Then click the Next button.



 
Make sure the radio button labeled 'POP" is checked.

In the "Server Name" box, enter mail.galesburg.net

Then click the Next button.



 
In the "User Name" box, enter your username.

Then click the Next button.



 
In the "Account Name" box, enter Galesburg.net

Then click the Next button.



 
Verify that all the information on the summary page is correct, then click the Finish button.

You are now ready to begin using Netscape Mail to send and receive e-mail.



 
By default, Netscape checks for new e-mail messages every 10 minutes. You can change this value by clicking the Edit menu, then clicking the Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings menu item. Click the Server Settings menu item in the top-left white box, then change the value for "Check for new messages every 10 minutes".

You can also check for new e-mail messages manually by clicking the File menu, then clicking the Get New Messages menu option.

An even faster way to manually check for new
e-mail messages is to press Ctrl-T.
